The Spotswood Family Descendants
(The SFD)
1. We seek to discover and explore common Spotswood/Spottiswoode family roots in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and in any political or geographical location where their descendants have lived or live today
2. We provide leadership in the assembling, recording and disseminating family data, documents, and any other materials relating to Governor Alexander Spotswood, or the Spotswood decadency from Qualified Spotswood Ancestors
3. We support locations and sites important to the Spotswood family
4. We are benevolent, genealogical, educational, literary and historical in our interests
5. We cultivate ties of fellowship and kinship among our members
6. We encourage research by our members to re-establish the family links of this scattered and illustrious family.
Membership Eligibility
Two basic categories
Category 1. Associate Members are members who do not have documented legal descent from Governor Alexander Spotswood or Qualifying Spotswood Ancestors, but who do have a desire to share in fellowship with the SFD.
Category 2. Documented Lineage Members
Name and Progeny
The Spotswood Family Descendants society is dedicated to the memory of the original Spotswood/Spottiswoode family originating in Scotland.
This lineage society encompasses those descendants of Governor Alexander Spotswood, or other Qualifying Spotswood/Spottiswoode Ancestors, who have an interest in that ancestry and a desire to support the mission of the society.
This society explores, records and does honor to the illustrious history of the descendants and ancestry of the Scottish Spotswoods/Spottiswoodes, including Governor Alexander Spotswood, in the United States, and the United Kingdom and any other country in which they live or have lived.
